Her Majesty the Queen Mother of Bhutan visits SZIU

The Office of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck, Kingdom of Bhutan and Szent István University concluded a Memorandum of Understanding on 5 September 2014. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck and Dr. János Tőzsér the Rector of Szent István University.  Cooperation between the Kingdom of Bhutan and SZIU may take the following forms:  academic collaboration at the undergraduate, graduate and/or doctoral levels, exchange of faculty members and students, and joint research activities.
Dr. János Tőzsés Rector of Szent István University received Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck and her delegation in the Rector's Meeting Hall.  The prominent members of the delegation were H. E. Mr. Sonam Tshong Ambassador of Bhutan to the EU and Mrs. Nima Zam Tshong, Countess Magdalene-Nikoletta Batthyány-Szentágothay, The Honorary Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Germany, Khunying Barbara Riepl, and Zoltán Valcsicsák, President of the Hungarian Bhutan Friendship Society.   The heads of local authorities and institutions were also invited, with respect to the heads of educational institutions since Her Majesty makes great efforts in Bhutan to help the education of children.  Mr. Tibor Gönczi Managing Director of the Royal Palace of Gödöllő,  Mrs. Fancsovits Zsuzsanna Bőjtös Principal of the Secondary Grammar School of the Norbertine Order Gödöllő, Mr. Péter Bárdy the former Principal of the Secondary Grammar School of the Norbertine Order Gödöllő, Mr. Bertalan Fábián Principal of Török Ignác Bilingual Secondary Grammar School Gödöllő, Mr. Tamás Kocsi Principal of Madách Imre Secondary Vocational School Gödöllő, and Mrs. Attila Fülöp Head of the  Municipal Library and Information Centre Gödöllő attended the ceremony.  Szent István University was represented by Dr. Péter Gálfi Vice-Rector for Research of SZIU, Dr. Tamás Tóth Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of SZIU, Dr. József Káposzta Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Dr. Csaba Gyuricza Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and Dr. István Szabó Director for International Relations and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The signing ceremony was supervised by Dr. István Szabó Director for International Relations, who first introduced all the distinguished guests.  First, Mrs.  Rinzin O. Dorji Executive Director of the Royal Textile Academy gave the audience an insight into Her Majesty’s charitable work, her presentation was followed by a charming performance of local pupils from Frederic Chopin Music School, which was a great success among the guests.
The diversity of the activities of Szent István University, i.e. degree courses, international cooperations, participating in international networks, research activities, was outlined by Dr. János Tőzsér Rector of Szent István University.  After the ceremonial signature, Her Majesty put down her words of thanks in the SZIU guestbook. Finally, Her Majesty and her delegation were invited to a reception to close the ceremony, where they had the opportunity to taste some specialities of the Hungarian cuisine.
